Wedding season is fast approaching and I am so excited to share with you the stories and images of all the couples we already have booked for the 2010 season, and look forward to meeting the couples that still plan on booking for the 2010 season!  I must admit, I LOVE MY JOB!  I love getting to know new couples and capturing one of the most important days of their life!  It is like capturing their family history!  LOVE IT!! :)
Starting this week, I thought it would be fun to cover the  different “options” a couple has to take advantage of leading up to their wedding and shortly after.

Engagement photos are usually one of the first things a couple thinks about doing once they are engaged.  The most common question I get asked is, “when is the best time to get engagement photos done?”My opinion is that it honestly does not matter and is up to the couple.  Some couples like to wait for a particular season (like spring or fall).  Others like to get it done right after they get engaged. Some like to wait for their summer tan, others prefer to try to catch the snow!  Whatever makes you feel great is what you should do! :)

I always recommend to allow at least 2 months between your engagement session and your wedding.  This allows enough time to order your images and get an announcement put in the paper before your wedding day.  If you are looking at having an engagement image on your “Save the Dates”, then it is recommended to have your engagement session at least 4-5 months in advance.

Engagement Session Advice:
*Remember, you do not have to match your partner…wear clothes that represent you and that you are comfortable in!
*Solids are better than prints.
*Bring an extra set of clothes to change into….some like casual, some like it formal, some like it fun…..so bring a couple outfits to make sure you get the look you are striving for!
*Pick a location that you feel comfortable at.  A park you always visit, your home, a cafe you are a regular at….these all make for some great photo ops!
*THE MOST IMPORTANT THING….be yourself! Cuddle, hold hands, have fun….the best images come when the couple is at ease and you are having as much fun as the photographer! :)

Here are a few more previews from this family session! It was so much fun to see a “new” little family interact and the way they looked at their daughter was priceless!

Okay, so I am back after taking most of December off! I decided to do a “top 10 list” this year in several categories so stay tuned! :)  It was soooo hard to narrow down all of the wedding images from 2009 and only pick 10!  I decided to make my choices based on the emotion I saw and felt when I took the images. Of course, every wedding has its traditional images taken, but the non traditional, and the images that capture emotion, are the images I search to capture at each and every wedding!  I think most clients would agree that these are the images that really stick out in their mind too!

In no particular order…

This past weekend Chris and I kept hearing about the snow coming. We woke up Saturday morning and could see snow on the tops of the mountains out our window. Chris was like, “let’s go find the snow!” (we only had drizzle at our elevation). Myself being a born and raised Illinois girl, I always tend to stay away from the snow because I have seen my share of blizzards and storms.  However, that morning I was like, “yes, let’s go find the snow!”  Little Bobby (our pup) had never seen the snow before and had a blast!  Chris kept throwing him snowballs to chase and Little Bobby could not understand where the snowballs were doing when they exploded when they hit the ground! I hope everyone got to see snow this past weekend! :)

Our boy all covered in snow! :)

Sweet Caroline is 6 weeks old and SUCH A GOOD BABY and I am sure she gets plenty of attention with having 3 older siblings! :)  Little Caroline was a great hat model as well. These adorable hats were provided by Nicci Lynn Handmades. Click here to find her sight on ETSY (just ask about the newborn hats). Nicci and I went to school together and she is the busy and amazingly creative mom of 4 little ones!

Mo and Jason got married at the beautiful Basilica of Saint Lawrence in downtown Asheville this past Halloween, followed with a fun evening of drinks, food, and dancing at the S & W Steakhouse.  Mo and Jason came from Atlanta to spend there special day in Asheville!  Even though the day started off with ran, the weather could not have been more perfect after the ceremony as we were all walking the streets of Asheville!  Chris and I hope you had an amazing honeymoon….here are some photos from the ceremony….more from the reception yet to come! :)
