month: September 2009

My Aunt came in from IL for the weekend while Chris was gone Bear Hunting! It rained ALL day Saturday, but the sun came out Sunday and we scurried to the Blue Ridge Parkway to go for a hike.  We chose Graveyard Fields/Upper Falls which was amazing! It is crazy how much color is up at that elevation and the drive was so beautiful! If you are local and have not gone to Graveyard Fields..GO, GO, GO!  Here are a few photos from our day….Happy Fall!! :)

This evening, as I am working on my orders and edits, I can hear the rain hitting the windows. It has been a cloudy afternoon, but just last night, I captured the moon from the porch as I was attempting to grill! :) Happy weekend!!

I just had to share these two photographs with you.  How did I ever not post these on the blog before?  Usually right after each session or wedding, I come back to the office, choose my favorite images for the blog, and then post a few “previews” to share on the blog.  The images below never stuck out in my mind until I saw them the other day. The mother of the twins ordered them and while I was working on the order, my heart just melted all over again!  So, blog world, I am now sharing them for all to see (hope you don’t mind Amber, but your kiddos are just too adorable)! :)

I must apologize for the lack of blogging in the last week or so. We are getting ready for a great fall season of weddings and family sessions here at Autumn Olive Photography! There is nothing better than capturing happy people with the fall colors painting the mountains. :)

One of the most common questions asked by many of our clients is, “What should we wear?”   So, here are the basics!

Wear what you feel comfortable in. That always makes the pictures more fun and natural. Keep kids happy. If they hate something, don’t make them wear it! Color adds an extra pop to your pictures! Families don’t have to match, just try to cordinate colors!  Pick three colors next to each other to add an extra “pop” to the images! Also, solids shirts are better than prints. Solids are classic. But, it is your session and your personality. Do what you feel is you and you cannot go wrong!!!  Happy Tuesday! :)

Okay…I may have made a HUGE mistake. I was told it was the style, but really, know no one that I know has them…yes, I am freakin out!  It was a spare of the moment decision. I just needed my hair trimmed so badly before I went to the beach! As I said it, I could hardly believe the words coming out of my mouth. Those 3 words. “Give me bangs” came out and before I knew it, the scissors were cutting away…..so you may think I am a little dramatic here, but really, it has been the 4th grade since I had bangs!  Yes, it has been that long!  Haha…maybe one day I will get the nerves to post a photo up, but until then, here is a photo of a silver moose taken in Chicago. Happy Wednesday! :)

Is Beth not gorgeous?! It was such a hot day (like REALLY HOT), but as the sun came down, we got some beautiful images in the “golden light”.  Thanks Beth for being such a great sport! :)

First of all…all of these images are with my little point and shoot camera (it is new, and I am taking it back because it did horrible all weekend). :(

A group of 3 other couples along with Chris and I road tripped it to the Ocoee River (location of the 1996 olympics) for the weekend!  We had a blast hanging out together in the big Van that we borrowed on the way to the River Friday evening! We had a full day of rafting on Saturday!  Great friends, great food,  and great fun! What else could you ask for?

This past weekend was Kiley and Travis’s big day! Their wedding and reception took place in Valdese. What a fun and unique wedding.  The weather was perfect as were all the details!  The theme seen throughout the wedding was “Zebra” with red touches.  I have got to admit, when I heard “Zebra”  I was a bit puzzeled as to how it would work.  However, it was so fun and classy (more on the details in the next post)! Here are a few images from the day!

 The wedding party…..:)

The next Mr and Mrs……see you in 20 years kids! ;)
