month: September 2008
Okay, I know I promised photos from Nora’s session! We got rained out yesterday, but we got some great photos taken today! Be on the lookout for some photos to come! I will also be taking photos at Denny and Naomi’s wedding this weekend, so be on the lookout for those as well! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Lost in Asheville? How did that happen and why is my Tom Tom not coming up with this address? These were all items flying through my head as I was heading to Asheville for a meeting with some local photographers. I have decided that I need to get to know the area better. I am one of these people that knows how to get to the places that are important (to me) like the grocery store, mall, YMCA, doctors….but easily get lost or turned around. I contribute it to the windy roads. Yes, that has been my excuse for about 5 years now! I know, laugh all you want. I was raised on straight roads, that squared up every mile, back in Illinois. However, last night I decided it was time! Yes, after about 5 years in North Carolina, I am going to learn the roads and attempt to get from point A to B without my little buddy Tom Tom (it is a GPS system). I am here in North Carolina to stay and have no other choice but to learn where I am going! So, if you see me on the side of the road looking for street signs, or asking someone for directions, you will know my situation. Just honk and wave!
My reason for going to Asheville last night was for a PUGS meeting and dinner. Some great photographers were there such as Regina Holder, Honour Mann, and Katy Cook. It was great to hear other photographers ideas and see their work! It was an inspiring evening!
I will have some photos posted up this evening of a session (if we don’t get rained out). Have a great day everyone!
the Internet that is! This afternoon I went to the website of where Chris and I got married. http://rumblingbald.com/LakeLure/index.aspx I was so surprised when I saw some photographs from our wedding posted on the Internet! It brought back some good memories. John Payne took the photographs and was wonderful. We had a small wedding with close friends and family. It was a perfect setting with the lake and mountains in the background. We left the ceremony in Chris’s grandfather’s 1940 Chevy truck. It has been in the family for at least 3 generations and it was very important to include that into our wedding day! Click here to see some photos from our wedding day (April 21, 2007)!

It was a beautiful location (I am not biased or anything). However, I know the ends and outs of this place and would love to photograph a couple getting married here!
Okay, well, I updated my profile on the blog. I put in a little more information about myself, along with a ..um..photo…of me. :/ So my secret is that I LOVE to take photographs of others, but am not so excited about photographs of myself. My wonderful husband shot the photo (thanks babe)!
Okay, now I have more exciting news (it has nothing to do with photography). Chris and I walked 8 miles today in Old Fort on the old 70. From what I understand, it used to be the main road to and from Asheville before I-40 was built. The road has been grown up for sometime. The state recently has cleared it and has it open to walkers, runners, and bikers! It was so amazing! It had some wonderful views of the mountains and “little” bobby walked the whole way with us. Not to mention that the old road has a ton of history! We then went to Curtis Creek and did some fishing! As I am writing this post I am looking at the wonderful sunset from my deck…*sigh* ! Days like today make me realize how beautiful this world is and how lucky we are to be a part of the beauty!
Okay, I am going to take a quick photo of the sunset and will post it up in a second!
That’s right! Be on the lookout for some big changes! Last night I attended a Lecture in Charlotte, NC and got some wonderful ideas! Free to Succeed was the name of it! David Jay was such a wonderful speaker and I met a ton of very cool photographers from the area!
